Hoppers

Though slightly messy by the end, Hoppers tells a proper story. It heightens clear goals with a catchy premise before adding superfluous plot elements. The drama is driven by a motivated protagonist whose earned relationships lead to a satisfactory arc. Its themes of environmentalism, oneness, advocacy, and nonviolence are honorable. Arguably, those concepts aren't explored enough, the resolution comes too easily, and its climax muddles messaging, but the script's virtues outweigh its flaws. There's consistent humor, setup/payoff, and colorful characters. Via vibrant personalities, the acting unites comedic timing with vulnerability. Thus, Hoppers hits all its requirements.

Likewise, Hoppers has proficient technicals. Though the zen and zany can clash, its direction maintains a family-adventure tone. Active movement, angles, color, focus, and lighting propel the cinematography. Its editing utilizes apt pacing (plus flavorful details like passing cuts) inside a tight runtime. Subjectivity, genre elements, and key contrast enhance the soundscape. Its music bolsters passable scoring with charismatic needle drops. The production design provides trademark Pixar stylization. Despite mild fame, its cast has strong fit as well as diversity. The CGI effects offer excellent textures (albeit lacking distinct flair). Overall, Hoppers is widely agreeable.
