Justice League (2017)

Justice League is a hot mess that does little right. It's stripped down to a bare plot, ignoring emotions, setup, themes, and arcs. There's corny dialogue, forced levity, predictability, blunt exposition, McGuffins, boring villains, contradictions, undeveloped characters, contrivances, clunky stakes, impersonal motivations, tacked-on scenes, and no clear lead. The inconsistent acting is false, annoying, flat, cringey, and disengaged because the script is a flurry of butchered pieces without a plan or goal. Altogether, Justice League has nothing of value. Void of relatable drama, it focuses on halfhearted and stale tropes that fall apart because the film can't even pick a lane.

Technically, Justice League has no direction. The tone clashes, everything is artificial and disorienting, and reshoots are obvious. Its imagery is cluttered and drab because the lighting and color internally conflict. The editing has rushed pacing, excessive cross cuts, clumsy momentum, and weak structure. Its sound uses split cuts, genres, layers, and emphasis, but gets chaotic. The music is generic and erratic. Its production design looks fake, ugly, and dull. The wholly digital effects are cheap, hurried, uncanny, and distracting. The only positive is the star-studded cast. Overall, Justice League carelessly pirates other blockbusters without considering how they work.
