Blink Twice

Blink Twice creates consistent intrigue and earns satisfying reveals. This all serves topical themes. Combining satire and genre elements is a difficult gambit, but it can produce enlightened entertainment. Beyond merely calling out social issues, the script concludes that positive change comes from remembering. If our collective consciousness forgets, we incidentally forgive. So while its plot isn't always logical, that's beside the point. Meanwhile, the characters are engaging. There's dense setup/payoff, dark wit, symbolism, and brewing tension. Lastly, the acting is ranged with layers, chemistry, charisma, intensity, and comedy. Consequently, Blink Twice is ambitious.

Technically, Blink Twice has motivated flair. Its hypnotic direction unifies diverse tones. Through tight framing and shallow focus, the imagery conveys claustrophobia. Its disorienting editing utilizes inserts, montages, pace shifts, match cuts, and intercuts. The music is flashy but measured, bookending eclectic needle drops around unsettling scoring. Smash cuts, emphasis, distortions, stings, and motifs make a subjective soundscape. The production design critiques classism through an exotic yet menacing sense of location. Its cast has against-type stardom, depth, and representation. The effects supply sizable violence. Ultimately, Blink Twice is substance with style.
