Deadpool & Wolverine

Instead of knowing what it wants to be, Deadpool & Wolverine tries to be everything at once. Burdened by a convoluted yet simplistic plot, the only attempts at emotional connections come from fan service and inconsistent humor. Despite its meandering multiverse jargon, this is just another story about heroes stopping bland villains from world domination. Meanwhile, entire sequences are dedicated to decades-old references. The sparse moments of underdeveloped character drama ring insincere. The acting conjures comedy, layers, intensity, and vulnerability, but nobody's given enough time to solidify true depth. Consequently, Deadpool & Wolverine is a heap of spare parts.

Technically, Deadpool & Wolverine is underwhelming and muddled. Besides one long side-scrolling take, the cinematography is mostly basic or even dull. Despite psychological inserts, action, and montages, its editing feels disjointed and bloated. The sound adds motivated genre elements, distortions, and voiceovers. Its music combines comedic pop hits with mediocre scoring. Although deep with Easter eggs, the production design often looks drab. Driven by its star leads and abundant cameos, its cast is the movie's selling point. The effects use stunts and makeup, but as usual, rely too heavily on average CGI. Aside from glimpsing enjoyment, Deadpool & Wolverine is jumbled.
