Final Destination 2 is a retread premise without a story. While its action sequences involve setup/payoff and irony, the surrounding writing barely functions. There are no themes or drama. It's void of developed emotions, relationships, or vulnerability. The protagonist is a blank slate. Instead of characters, we have walking tropes spouting repetitive exposition. It's so painfully predictable that even the set pieces become boring. Corny dialogue, convoluted rules, cringy humor, and contrivances are prevalent. Plus, the stilted acting lacks personality or energy. Consequently, Final Destination 2 works better as internet clips than pretending it's an actual narrative.

Despite proficiently constructed visual storytelling with its kills, Final Destination 2's clashing tones often feel like a cheap spoof. The cinematography uses movement, angles, depth, and framing, but can also be flat. Though there's clear action, its editing fumbles structure through redundant filler as well as no resolution. The sound conveys decent violence, its generic music never makes an impact, and the production design is incidental. With no fame plus arbitrary fit, its cast is absolutely replaceable. Impressive stunts, practical gore, and pyrotechnics offset the effects' moments of dated CGI. Ultimately, Final Destination 2 has exactly one scene worth watching.
