One of Them Days is guilt-free entertainment. Despite a convenient end, a meandering plot, a bloated third act, and perfunctory drama, the script's flaws are outweighed by its strengths. Its premise is derivative but catchy. While often broad, the comedy lands when character-based or social commentary. There's a ticking-clock motivation throughout. It has decent setup/payoff. The protagonists are contrasting, proactive, and likable (while exhibiting textbook arcs). There are themes of classism and self-worth. Also, its acting (though not always believable or vulnerable) provides spontaneous personality and compelling chemistry. Thus, One of Them Days maintains engagement.
Though there's little tension, One of Them Days creates a lighthearted mood with absurdist touches. Mostly standard, the cinematography uses moments of jokingly heightened lighting, angles, and POVs. Despite lacking potent structure or momentum, its editing adds stylistic freeze frames, split screens, and slo-mo. The music contributes relevant needle drops plus comedic scoring. Although it has blatant product placements, its production design conveys a strong sense of place. The cast supplies fame, representation, fit, and breakout potential. Its effects aren't particularly convincing, yet that's forgivable in this silly tone. Ultimately, One of Them Days is passable fun.
