Pet Sematary: Bloodlines

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines is neutered. There's clumsy exposition, ignored subtext, a stalling plot, flat characters, blatant contrivances, cliches, weak setup/payoff, consistent predictability, and superficial emotions. The core premise is undermined because the psychological horrors and internal conflicts it produces are completely sidestepped. Its acting is stilted, bored, mild, and generally lifeless. Essentially, all the drama, depth, excitement, and ethical intrigue are muted or stripped away, leaving behind a thin and generic script whose only notable trait is its title. Pet Sematary: Bloodlines is a perfunctory and forgettable experience that doesn't justify its own existence.

Technically, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines offers only faint wisps of style, tone, energy, or suspense. The cinematography uses some interesting focus but is so dark and bland. Its editing has clunky pacing, forced scares, confusing action, and dull momentum. The sound adds layers, awkward voiceovers, excessive stings, emphasis, and violence. Its music provides blunt scoring and needle drops that are both tired and vague to the setting. The production design is underwhelming and drab. Its cast is slim on fame, optimization, or enthusiasm. The effects have okay CGI, makeup, and prosthetics, but nothing that stands out. Overall, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines is a flatline.
