Zootopia 2 has all the competent pieces. Its contrasting protagonists earn intertwining arcs, solidifying legitimate (albeit regularly sidelined) drama. Though a bit belabored and simplified, there are themes surrounding prejudice. The plot may be convoluted, but it follows a textbook investigation formula. There's consistent humor, motivated characters, setup/payoff, and twists. Conversely, its script leans on exposition-heavy dialogue as well as shoehorned callbacks. Still, the voice acting provides distinct personalities plus comedic timing to enliven rather basic roles. Altogether, Zootopia 2 is satisfactory and even slightly dynamic despite being messy around its edges.

Technically, Zootopia 2's spirited energy borders on frantic. Varied movement, colors, lighting, focus, and framing create active cinematography. Although teetering on exhaustion, the editing maintains brisk momentum. Abundant genre elements as well as subjective distortions fill its cartoonish soundscape. Fittingly, the music blends spy jazz scoring with pop needle drops. Despite feeling a touch generic, its production design contributes plentiful world-building, sight gags, and characterization. The cast offers a deep mix of fame, fit, diversity, and skill. Its CGI animation features a large breadth of detailed textures. Thus, Zootopia 2 is across-the-board proficient.
